Oklahoma Enters 2010 Season at No. 7

NORMAN, Okla. -- Oklahoma will open the 2010 season ranked No. 7 in the AP Top 25 preseason poll, which was released Saturday. OU was one of five teams to receive at least one first-place vote. Defending national champion Alabama came in at No. 1 overall.
 
The 2010 season marks the 52nd preseason ranking for the Sooners in the 60 years the AP has released a preseason poll (87%). 
 
Oklahoma holds AP records for most weeks ranked No. 1 (97), most weeks ranked in Top 2 (194), most weeks ranked in Top 5 (370) and most weeks ranked in Top 10 (510). 
  
Currently, seven of OU's 2010 opponents are either ranked or received votes. Texas came in at No. 5 and Florida State at No. 20. Cincinnati, Missouri, Texas Tech, Texas A&M and Oklahoma State all received votes.
 
OU opens the 2010 season at home against Utah State on Saturday, Sept. 4 at 6 p.m. (CT). A limited number of tickets are still available. The game will be televised on a pay-per-view basis by Fox Sports Net.
