LUBBOCK, Texas --
The No. 11 Sooners could not hold the opposition's offense at bay as Texas Tech homered three times en route to a 7-3 victory in game two on Saturday.

The loss evens the series and drops OU's record to 26-9 overall and 6-6 in Big 12 play. The Sooners won game one of the doubleheader, 12-1, behind Zach Neal's four-hit, complete game shutout.

"It was pitching on both sides today," said OU Head Coach Sunny Golloway about the doubleheader split. "Our No. 1 guy, Zach Neal, came out and pitched really well in game one and then in game two, their guy out pitched us. That was the bottom line."

Texas Tech starter Bobby Doran (3-2) lasted seven innings and limited OU to one run off seven hits and two walks. Doran also struck out seven before handing the ball over to Chad Bettis.

Texas Tech (19-19, 7-7) jumped on top with its first at-bat as Jamodrick McGruder homered to right-center

In the top of the fifth, Buechele, who extended his hitting streak to seven games with a single in the first inning, connected on his third single of the game and the base knock through the left side of the infield plated Danny Black.

Buechele (3-for-3) led the Sooners with his team-leading 16th multiple-hit performance. Caleb Bushyhead also had three hits in his three official at-bats.

The opposition immediately countered as Barrett Barnes led off the bottom of the fifth with a solo shot to right. The frame featured three other runs from the home team as Texas Tech opened a 7-1 advantage after five.

Bobby Shore (5-2) had his least productive outing of the season and lasted just 4 2/3 innings after surrendering seven runs of 10 hits.

"I don't think Bobby was as sharp as he has been," added Golloway. "But you have to give them (Texas Tech) credit. Game two should have been more of a tightly contested game. We could have attacked better offensively and make some plays defensively."

OU loaded the bases in the ninth and plated two runs off Bettis but was unable to produce its 14th comeback victory of the season.

Sunday's series finale is slated for a 1 p.m. first pitch and can be heard live on the Sooner Sports Network, KREF 1400 AM in Norman and Oklahoma City.

It marks the first rubber match of the season for the Sooners and the Red Raiders' third in Big 12 play (lost to Texas and topped Oklahoma State). The Sooners won the last time they faced a decisive game three against Texas Tech. OU won that 2008 series with a 3-2 win the finale in Lubbock.

"If you think about it, we've won three of four series so far and we have a chance to get four out of five tomorrow. We have a chance to stay near the top of the conference standings. There is a lot to play for tomorrow."
