NORMAN, Okla. – University of Oklahoma women's golf coach Veronique Drouin announced her second recruiting class Wednesday, a talented duo that will add to the Sooners' already strong squad.

Viktoria Lager from West Florida Christian School in Longboat Key, Fla., and Jessica Schiele of Redlands Community College in El Reno, Okla., signed National Letters of Intent Wednesday and will begin competing for Oklahoma in fall 2011.

Lager, who will be a freshman in 2011-12, boasts four wins on the International Junior Golf Tour and four top-two finishes on the Skandia Tour in Sweden. The Sooner-to-be also won the Junior Golf America Masters, placed in the top 10 of six tournaments on the Future Collegians World Tour and posted two top-10 finishes with the American Junior Golf Association.

“Viktoria has proven herself as a good player, but I know she has a lot more potential,” said Drouin. “I expect her to keep working hard and as soon as she gets here to crack the lineup.”

Schiele, a sophomore at Redlands Community College, will follow her former head coach (current OU assistant Gerrod Chadwell) to Norman. Chadwell, a first-year assistant, served as head coach at Redlands for the past three years.

Last season, Schiele finished second at the NJCAA Region II Tournament and was later named a second-team All-American. She helped Redlands to a regional title and a third-place showing at the national tournament.

A native of Grimsby, England, Schiele will be one of four OU golfers next year from outside of the United States.

“Jessica will bring a different perspective to the team with a lot of playing experiences in the U.K. and U.S.,” said Drouin. “I expect her to be a leader of this team when she arrives on campus.”
