FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.--The University of Oklahoma women's cross country team was lead by Molly Ferguson as the Sooners finished ninth out of 56 teams Saturday at the 22nd annual Chile Pepper Festival on the University of Arkansas Cross Country Course.
Ferguson finished 22nd individually in a field that featured 465 runners. Ferguson crossed the finish line with a time of 17 minutes, 27.11 seconds on the 5,000 meter course. The Sooners finished with 362 points.
Annie Martin was the second highest finisher for Oklahoma just behind Ferguson with a time of 17:28.01. Ferguson and Martin were less than a minute off the winning time of 16:39 run by Indiana's Sarah Pease.
Rounding out the field for Oklahoma was Kelly Waters with a time of 18:25.13, followed by Hilary Krein (18:29.51), Kelsey Brown (18:44.58) and Natalie Crain (18:48.96).
Three OU men competed individually in the men's 10,000 meter competition. Ross Larimer recorded the top time for Oklahoma at 31:46.82, followed by Clay Mayes (32:11.78), Richard Renteria (32:30.99) and Colin Slattery (32:40.83).
Next up for the Sooners is the 2010 Big 12 Cross Country Championships on Oct. 30 in Stillwater, Okla.
