Oklahoma Head Coach Sherri Coale
On her 300th win:
“I think coaches get way too much credit, that's honestly how I feel. We've had a lot of great players through the years. There are a lot of guys who put in a lot of effort and fine performances to get that number. And I said on the television broadcast following that they should have made another ball and given it to [assistant coach] Jan [Ross]. She's been here for every single one of them.”
On their zone defense:
“We prepared for it this week, and felt like it could be a weapon against them. They do a really nice job of getting to the interior of the zone, but it's mostly [Danielle] McCray. So we had just worked on having great awareness of where she was at all times and, not really matching up with her, but in a sense, matching up with her until we could hand her off to somebody in another position. I thought it broke the rhythm and that's what a zone does more often than not. It's not necessarily the great defense that it is, but it can change the rhythm of an offense. We went to it a little earlier than we wanted to because of foul trouble. We thought it could keep some of our players on the floor.”
On freshman Joanna McFarland:
“I've felt for awhile that Jo is on the cusp of breaking out. She's been good for us, don't get me wrong. She's been good as a freshman she's played significant minutes in very important game. I felt like she could score a little bit. We watched film this week and talked about that. You're doing all these things, you're grading out 96 percent on rebounds, and that's awesome. But you can also go out there and score. She just had opportunities tonight. I thought she handled passes extremely well and maybe you got a glimpse of how good she can be. “
Junior Guard Danielle Robinson
On the season low turnovers:
“I think we just read really well. We were patient on offense. We knew that they were a good defensive team but we also knew that we could do whatever we wanted and we were just patient. I think everybody made good decisions with the ball. We didn't try to do too much. At the beginning we were fumbling the ball a little bit too much trying to execute our offense. We just made a read off of that and took care of it.”
On the slow start offensively:
“We talked about that in the huddle. We said we can get what we want and don't need to force things. We got down because we were fouling them in the beginning and were missing shots as well. We knew that when we would start to shoot the ball everything would be just fine so we didn't worry at all.”
On being a part of Coach Coale's 300th win:
“It's awesome just to realize the past players that she's recruited and have come through the program and made such a difference. Three hundred is nothing small. It's a really big accomplishment and I'm happy to be a part of it.”

Kansas Head Coach Bonnie Henrickson
On the game:
“Out of the gate I thought we were as good as we've been ... confident, shared the ball, guarded. We were aggressive and then got into a little bit of foul trouble early. Then they made a run and we didn't answer the run. In the second half there was about an 11-minute stretch were we let it get away, but out of the gate I thought we were really, really good.”
On how foul trouble affected the team:
“It certainly had, but you know Monica Engelman played pretty well coming in. That was decent. I thought Rhea [Codio] gave us pretty good minutes. I thought Sade Morris did as good as she did over here in her career. I don't know that she's had a better three-game stretch in her career since Angel [Goodrich] got hurt. Credit to her for playing confident and aggressive.”
On the defeat:
“In a loss, even in that loss, we've got some pieces that are going to help us win games, because that's as aggressive as Aishah [Sutherland] has been. That's aggressive as Carolyn [Davis) has]been. As much as we've thrown it to Carolyn one-on-one inside, she did a good job. We've got all those kids in double-figure scoring, and we get Danielle [McCray] to be who she needs to be and who she's supposed to be in our program, we've got a chance to win some games. “
Senior Guard Sade Morris
On what impressed her about Danielle Robinson's play:
“She's just a great leader. She knows how to attack the rim and if she doesn't have a bucket she knows how to make the right pass, and she's really good at that. I just tried to get deflections, keep her in front of me and just do whatever I can to make it hard for her.”
On what her team can take away from this loss:
“We had a pretty good punch in the first half and we gained some confidence from that and our bench play. We gained a lot of confidence from that. They came in ready to play and gave us some good minutes. They came in doing whatever they needed to do to keep the lead closer.”
Senior Forward/Guard Danielle McCray
On the team keeping the energy going:
”I think our bench did a good job with helping us on the court and I think as far as us together, we stayed together more. Just after everything we made our huddles tight, we were talking to each other more and more shots were falling in. When they went on a run we tried to keep that energy up to try to stay in the game.”
On getting the ball inside:
“Inside I thought they had some big bodies in size and had a lot of contact. But I thought Carolyn and Krysten [Boogaard] did a good job of getting into position and when she got the ball she tried to do something with it.”
Freshman Guard Monica Engelman
On handling an increased role on the team:
“It's just like any other game that I would go into with the mindset that I am a part of the team and I need to do the things that I need to do and work on defense. It doesn't change just because my minutes increase.”
On what she needs to improve with her defense:
“Just stay in front of my man and try to stand up a little bit when they come at me. I know in the first half they backdoored on me like twice, but I fixed it in the second half.”
