LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) -- Pat Knight said that the other Texas Tech coaches verbally "hammered" their players at halftime.
The Red Raiders had stayed close to Oklahoma in the first half on Saturday night because of defense. But offensively, there was no team effort, Knight said.
"My vocabulary is pretty limited," said Knight, alluding to having used one cuss word repeatedly. "That's about it. You can't get too creative with that, but I got four assistants that have a wider range of vocabulary."
Something got through, as the Red Raiders came back to beat Oklahoma 75-65.
Mike Singletary had 24 points and 10 rebounds to lead Texas Tech.
"I thought the second half was great at both ends (of the floor)," Knight said.
The Red Raiders (14-5, 2-3 Big 12) pulled ahead in the final three minutes, closing the game on a 10-1 run.
Tommy Mason-Griffin scored 26 points to lead the Sooners (11-8, 2-3).
Trailing by 11 early in the second half, Texas Tech used a 12-0 run - highlighted by a 3-pointer by John Roberson and back-to-back shots beyond the arc by Singletary - to lead 35-34 with about 16 minutes remaining.
The Red Raiders led by four points twice afterward, but Mason-Griffin kept the Sooners close. He hit consecutive 3-pointers to tie it at 62-62.
Singletary had his fourth double-double of the season.
"Our offense was kind of stagnant (in the first half)," Singletary said. "We weren't moving around and weren't really sharing the ball. Whenever we do that, our percentage is really low."
Oklahoma coach Jeff Capel said it his team couldn't slow Texas Tech down when it needed to.
"As good as we were defensively in the first half, we were as bad in the second half," Capel said. "And the game came down to our inability to get some stops."
Oklahoma played without its leading scorer, Willie Warren, who injured his right ankle in practice Thursday. He is averaging 17.6 points a game.
"Did it affect us? Yeah, he's our best offensive player," Capel said.
Texas Tech, which has equaled the number of wins it had all of last year, shot poorly until the run that brought it back. The Red Raiders were 0 for 4 from 3-point range in the first half. In the second half, they went 7 for 9.
Singletary hit all three of his 3-point tries, and David Tairu, who finished with 18 points, was 3 for 4 from behind the arc.
Oklahoma shot 36.2 percent (21 of 58) from the field.
The Sooners had 16 turnovers, and Texas Tech scored 24 points off of them. The Red Raiders lost the ball only eight times.
Texas Tech made just three field goals in the last 12:36 of the first half, and Oklahoma led 31-23 at halftime.
The Red Raiders' first-half point total was their third-lowest of the season. They had 21 and 18 at Wichita State and Kansas, respectively, and lost both games.
