NORMAN, Okla. – Fresh off a strong weekend in Minnesota, the University of Oklahoma men's cross country team moved up two spots to No. 4 in the Midwest Region of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Rankings.
The Sooners were ranked No. 6 in the Midwest a week ago before a dominant second-place finish at last weekend's Roy Griak Invitational, knocking off No. 17 Minnesota and narrowly missing the team title as No. 25 Iowa State took home the Men's Gold Race title by a mere three points.
The Sooners currently trail their Big 12 and in-state rival Oklahoma State, who holds the No. 1 rank in the Midwest region followed by Tulsa (No. 2) and Iowa State (No.3). The University of Minnesota, whom the Sooners defeated Saturday, rounds off the top-five.
The Sooners are off until they split in their final regular-season weekend of the year; October 17, as some athletes head to the Arkansas Chile Pepper Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark., while a second group heads to Terre Haute, Ind. for Pre-Nationals.
