NORMAN, Okla. -- A phrase you'll often hear in sports is "the face of the program". The Oklahoma volleyball team couldn't ask for a better one than Francie Ekwerekwu.

Not only a supremely talented athlete on the court, Ekwerekwu is the model ambassador away from the game as well. She is the president of Bridge Builders, an African-American student-athlete organization dedicated to helping underpriveleged kids in the area, and is also on the leadership team for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. All this while also earning Academic Big 12 honors in the classroom.

Ekwerekwu certainly does it all, making her a role model not only for kids but also for her teammates, pushing them to get the most out of themselves both on and off the court.

That is exactly what being the face of the program is all about.
