IRVING, Texas -- Junior forward Whitney Palmer was named the Big 12 Conference's Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday.  Palmer recorded a hat trick to lead the Sooners in their 3-1 win over Tulsa on Sunday, tying a school record with OU's second hat trick in program history (tied Logan Womack - 2002).

The Plano, Texas, native recorded nine shots on goal over the weekend, including three in Friday's 2-0 victory against Oral Roberts. The accolade is the second weekly honor from the conference for Palmer and the first since 2007.

The three goals on Sunday upped Palmer's season total to four goals, a mark that is tied for the Big 12 lead.  In addition, Palmer currently leads the Big 12 in points (10) and is tied for first in assists (2).

Following the performance against Tulsa, Palmer moved in to a tie for fourth place on OU's career goals scored list with 18 scores.

Palmer and OU (4-0) hit the road for the first time this season with a weekend trip to Tennessee.  On Friday, Sept. 4, the Sooners will travel to Middle Tennessee for a 7 p.m.  game in Murfreesboro.  On Sunday, Sept. 6, OU takes on Vanderbilt in Nashville at 1 p.m.
