At the annual Board of Regents meetings Wednesday in Ardmore, President David Boren announced the Athletics Department will increase its support for academic programs by $3 million. The Regents also approved salary increases for several of OU's coaches.

Pat Forde of ESPN writes about big non-conference games vanishing from college football: "[Scheduling] is the most challenging it's ever been," said Oklahoma athletics director Joe Castiglione, one guy who still believes in selective blockbuster scheduling. "I'm concerned, because I just don't see the strength-of-schedule philosophy being shared by as many people as we would hope if we're really concerned with the health of college football."
