Dye Improves at Championships

NORMAN, Okla. - University of Oklahoma senior golfer Kendall Dye posted a second round one-over-par 73 Wednesday at the 6,443-yard, par-72 Caves Valley Golf Club in Owings Mills, Md. Two rounds remain in the four-round Division I tournament hosted by Georgetown University.

UCLA paces the tournament amongst the teams after posting a second-round 293 (+5). Southern California follows UCLA with their second round team score of 295 (+7), followed by Denver's second round score of 304 (+16). Arizona State, Oklahoma State and North Carolina are tied up for fourth place after their second round scores of 298 (+10), 297 (+9) and 301 (+13), respectively.

Dye, a first-team All-Big 12 member, made her move as an individual to a tied 72nd place out of 126 competitors. Only 20 other golfers posted a score equal to or better than Dye's second round 73 (+1). The lone Sooner stands two strokes back from the top-50, four strokes back from the top-30 and five strokes back from the top-25.

UCLA's Maria Jose Uribe paces the tournament after two rounds with a 141 (-3), followed by Wake Forest's Nannette Hill, Denver's Stephanie Sherlock and Pepperdine's Lisa McCloskey, who are all tied for second place with a 143 (-1).

Dye started day two of competition at the 10th hole and had an impressive streak of four birdies before ending the back nine one-under-par. Although she ended the front nine two-over-par, her total score for the day ended up one-over-par 73, the sixth-best score of the day.

Dye, an Edmond native, will begin round three of the NCAA Championships at the 10th hole on Thursday at 9:20 a.m. CT. Live scoring is available at www.golfstat.com.
