GAME NOTES
Arkansas leads the all-time series, 12-9 ... Oklahoma has 76 homers this season and has cleared the fences in 18 of the last 22 games with 52 in that span ... OU has multiple homers in 16 games in 2009, including 10 games with three or more home runs ... The Sooners have posted double-digit hits in all but 18 games this season and own a 23-4 mark ... OU was 27-0 before tonight's game when leading after seven innings ... OU is 14-2-1 under Sunny Golloway when playing in extra innings.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- No. 9 Oklahoma (33-12) lost a two-run lead in the ninth inning and fell, 8-7, in the 10th inning at No. 8 Arkansas (30-12) on Tuesday in front of 8,529 fans at Baum Stadium.

OU led 7-5 after Bryant Hernandez hit the Sooners' third homer of the game, a solo shot, in the top of the ninth.  The two-run lead was quickly extinguished as Brett Eibner hit his second home run of the game, a two-run shot to left field, to tie the game at seven and send it to extra innings.

Ryan Duke was handed just his second blown save of the season and fell to 2-1 after surrendering the final three runs (two earned) of the game. Arkansas loaded the bases in the ninth with zero outs and with the infield in, Zach Cox lined into a potential double play.  Matt Harughty made the spectacular diving stop but his throw to first base was not in time to double up the runner.  Duke struck out the next batter, but the game-winning run came across after a 3-2 pitch was called a ball to end the game.

“It's a disappointing loss, but this doesn't change our team,” said OU Head Coach Sunny Golloway.  “If anything, this team learned how to play in a competitive environment and we will be better for it.  We played well tonight and we need to put this behind us and prepare for this weekend's Big 12 series.

“You have to tip your cap to Arkansas, they did a lot of things right in the end to pull out the victory.”

J.T. Wise led the Sooners with three hits and three RBIs while Bryant Hernandez drove in a run on his three hits.  Cox, who started at third base, improved to 5-1 after pitching the final two innings with one run allowed off three hits.

OU jumped out on top first after Wise ripped a double to the gap in left-center and plated Hernandez for the 1-0 lead.

In the top of the second, OU took a 2-0 lead on Ross Hubbard's second homer in the last two games.  The blast bounced off the scoreboard in right-center field and marked the 75th of the year for OU.

Arkansas rallied in the bottom of the second and after tying the game on Cox's RBI single, Eibner gave his team the lead on a two-run homer to right.

The Sooners quickly countered in the top of the third and took a 4-3 lead with their second homer of the game.  Aaron Baker was issued a two-out walk and Wise collected his second and third RBIs of the game on his 15th homer of the season.  Wise's season total is the most by a Sooner since Jason Franz hit 15 in 2002.

OU starter Stephen Porlier gave up his second homer of the game in the bottom of the fourth as Cox drove in his second RBI of the game on the solo shot.

In the top of the seventh, Oklahoma loaded the bases and regained the lead with two runs in the inning.  Garrett Buechele was the first Sooner in the situation and his hard hit ball to third was ruled an error as Jamie Johnson scored from third.  The next batter, Casey Johnson drove in Bryant Hernandez on a single to right field.

With a 6-4 lead, Porlier exited after six innings and six strikeouts.  The junior surrendered four runs off five hits and a walk in his first start since April 18 at Texas.

J.R. Robinson relieved Porlier and he retired the side in order in the seventh with two strikeouts.  In the eighth, Robinson loaded the bases with one out and allowed Arkansas to cut the lead to one on a sacrifice fly to center field.  Robinson intentionally walked the next batter to load the bases and set the stage for Tyson Seng, who struck out the final batter of the inning and preserve the 6-5 lead.

Next up, Oklahoma will host Kansas in a three-game Big 12 series.  The series starts on Friday at 6:30 p.m. at L. Dale Mitchell Park.  Game two is slated for a 2 p.m. first pitch and the three-game set concludes on Sunday at 1 p.m.
