AUSTIN, Texas. -- The OU soccer team improved to 2-0 in spring action with a 5-2 win over TCU on Saturday in Austin, Texas.
The Sooners rallied from a 2-1 deficit behind the play of Kelsey Kraft who recorded the hat trick a week after scoring a goal and an assist in the opener last week at home. OU scored four goals in the second half.
"Today was a great step forward for our team," said OU Head Coach Nicole Nelson. "We showed some maturity by responding after going down 2-1 on a penalty kick. Our girls have been working hard this spring and showed good improvement in areas that we have been focused on developing."
Kraft gave OU a 1-0 lead after she scored in the 31st minute off a double assist from Ashley Bolden and Sage Coralli.
The sophomore was back at it on the Sooners' second and third goals, as Kraft was assisted by Whitney Palmer and Jordan White on both occasions.
Palmer scored the fourth goal in the 60th minute on an assist from Michelle Alexander and the Sooners' fifth and final goal came on a deflection off a TCU defender.
The Sooners fired 12 shots in the contest, eight of which came on goal, and also recorded four corner kicks in the contest.
Kate Marr recorded the win in the Sooners' goal after playing the position for the first time in her career. Marr was filling in for Lisa Jett who was out with an injury.
