NORMAN, Okla. – University of Oklahoma volleyball student-athletes Suzy Boulavsky (Houston, Texas) and Caitlin Higgins (Amarillo, Texas) have been named 2009 College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-District. Boulavsky earned first team honors, while Higgins was named to the third team. The pair is the program's first selections since Rachel Jackson, Joanna Schmitt and Eliane Santos earned the honors in 2006.
Boulavsky boasts a 3.90 grade point average in journalism and was one of two sophomores named to the first team. Boulavsky joined sister, Jessie, a senior at Rice on the team along with Lauren DeGirolam (LSU), Heather Kisner (Texas), Laurel Kuepker (Stephen F. Austin), Lauren Sears (Southern Miss) and Chloe Smith (Central Arkansas).
Boulavsky currently leads Oklahoma with 2.90 kills per set, having 238 on the year. She also averages 1.24 digs per set and has recorded the first two double-doubles of her career this year. Boulavsky is second on the team with a 3.31 points per set average.
Higgins has a 3.39 GPA in general studies. She joined Anna Breyfogle (Baylor), Caitlin Clarke (Southern Miss), Yelena Enwere (Northwestern State), Tracey Lam (Rice), Jennifer McClean (Rice), Adrianne Meengs (Lamar), Sydney Milburn (Stephen F. Austin) and Marina Skender (LSU) on the team.
Higgins leads Oklahoma in service aces with 16 on the year. She averages 2.24 kills per set and 2.95 digs per set.
