NORMAN, Okla. – University of Oklahoma sophomore setter Brianne Barker has been named a CVU.com Top Performer days after leading OU to 2-0 record on the week. Barker led OU past No. 20 Baylor on Nov. 4 and Kansas on Nov. 7. Both matches were three-set sweeps for the Sooners.
“Brianne has done a tremendous job for us this season,” said Oklahoma head coach Santiago Restrepo. “She has been a key component to our success, and she is able to run our offense efficiently. She has to distribute the ball and put it where it needs to be for our hitters, and she's done that comfortably with our attackers. She has taken this team to new heights, and it's been incredible for her to do it as a sophomore.
Last week, the Amarillo, Texas-native averaged 11.67 assists, 2.33 digs, 1.83 kills, hit .600 and averaged 0.83 blocks per set. Barker commanded the Sooners' offense to a .324 hitting percentage with 15.17 kills per set.
On the year, Barker averages 9.82 assists per set and is responsible for assisting on 835 of Oklahoma's 1,185 kills on the year or 70.1 percent.
