NORMAN, Okla. – The University of Oklahoma volleyball team dropped a 3-1 [23-25, 25-22, 10-25, 21-25] decision to 14th-ranked Iowa State Wednesday evening at McCasland Field House. The Sooners (11-5, 4-3 Big 12) struggled offensively and never found rhythm after taking the second set from the Cyclones (13-4, 5-2 Big 12).

“We played cautiously. When you play like that you aren't able to accomplish much,” said Oklahoma head coach Santiago Restrepo. “We need to be able to have the whole team playing well. When we don't play well as a team, this is the end result.”

Sophomore setter Brianne Barker led the way with her 11th double-double of the year with 39 assists and 16 digs. Freshman Maria Fernanda led the team with 20 digs, while senior Bridget Laplante and sophomore Caitlin Higgins added 16 and 15, respectively.

Junior Francie Ekwerekwu led the Sooners offense with 11 kills, while junior Sarah Freudenrich added 10. Ekwerekwu had three blocks, including a block solo. Freudenrich hit .273. Senior Jackie Fotu registered a 1.000 hitting percentage, converting both of her attack attempts to kills. Sophomore Suzy Boulavsky added nine kills.

As a team, Oklahoma hit just .068, committing 36 attack errors. Iowa State out-blocked OU, 17-6. The Cyclones hit .225 and of the 17 blocks, five were block solos.
