Sooner Profile: Lauren Alkek

NORMAN, Okla. -- When she first arrived in Norman, Lauren Alkek envisioned herself as a major scoring threat for the Sooner soccer program.
 
That vision changed near the end of her sophomore season when a position-change was brought up by new head coach Nicole Nelson. Now Alkek is one of the team's top defenders.
 
Viewed as one of the better athletes on the team, Alkek best asset is her leadership on the field. Whether it is challenging opposing players or her own teammates, Alkek is always trying to better the team.
 
With her big defensive stops and even bigger will to win, Alkek is a major reason behind the Sooner soccer team's resurgence the last couple of years.
