FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Three Oklahoma runners were in action Friday evening at the NCAA Last Chance Qualifier in Fayetteville.
Jacob Boone, Tony Clement and Chris Sweeney all headed west to the Randal Tyson Track Complex for the meet that gives competitors a final shot of action in hopes of posting a qualifying time for next weekend's NCAA Indoor Track and Field National Championships.
Clement finished fourth in the 800-meter run recording an NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 1:50.33, just behind his top time of 1:50.10 posted earlier this year at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational. Sweeney finished seventh in the event with a time of 1:54.32.
Boone finished fourth in the mile with a time of 4:07.45.
Sooner women Leslie Cole and Tijahnni Newton both compete in the women's 400-meter dash, tomorrow, March 8, at the Cyclone National Track & Field Qualifier in Ames, Iowa.
The NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships will be held next weekend, March 14-15, at the Randal Tyson Track Complex in Fayetteville, Ark. Oklahoma currently has one automatic qualifier in triple jumper Shardae Boutte and 14 provisional qualifiers.
Final selections for the meet will be announced Monday, March 10, at 8 p.m. CT.
