SATURDAY'S TEXAS A&M RECAP
OU beat Texas A&M 64-37 at home on Saturday and set numerous records in the process. Included was an NCAA record (since the advent of the shot clock in 1986) for longest scoring drought by an opponent. The Sooners held the Aggies scoreless for a 16:12 span (the final 12:51 of the first half and first 3:21 of the second).
During its scoring drought, Texas A&M missed 20 field goal attempts.
Texas A&M's 10 first-half points were the fewest ever scored by a Big 12 team in a half of a conference game. Its 37 total points tied as the fewest in a conference contest.
The Sooners held Texas A&M to .255 field goal shooting (13-for-51), the lowest opponent figure since Arkansas-Pine Bluff shot .205 on Dec. 2, 2003 (a span of 149 games).
OU, which set season lows for 3-point field goal makes (two) and attempts (six), shot .480 from the field. It was the team's best shooting game since posting a .500 figure against Oklahoma State on Jan. 28.
Longar Longar scored a game-high 14 points off the bench while also pulling down a game-high-tying eight rebounds.
The Sooners posted a 42-28 rebounding advantage. Texas A&M entered the game ranked second in the Big 12 with its +8.5 average rebounding margin. No Aggie finished with more than three boards.

TEAM UPDATE
With its Saturday win, Oklahoma now stands in a three-way, fifth-place Big 12 tie with Oklahoma State and Texas A&M at 7-7. The Sooners, Cowboys and Aggies trail Baylor and Kansas State (both 8-6) by one game and lead Texas Tech (7-8) by a half game.
OU has clinched the tie-breaker with each Big 12 South team it could potentially tie in the final league standings (Baylor, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M and Texas Tech). The Sooners own the first tie-breaker (head-to-head competition) with Baylor and Texas Tech due to regular season sweeps. OU also owns the second tie-breaker (record within own division) with each of those four teams. It will finish with at least six wins against Big 12 South teams while no other team can finish with more than five.
As of Monday, CollegeRPI.com projects Oklahoma as a No. 7 seed in the NCAA Tournament while ESPN.com's "Bracketology" has it as a No. 9 seed.
The Sooners are attempting to earn an NCAA Tournament bid for the 25th time in school history and for the 12th time in the last 14 years. A postseason berth of any kind would be OU's 26th in the last 27 seasons (no team in the country has more postseason appearances over the last 26 years than Oklahoma's 25).
Oklahoma has won four true road games this year (two versus ranked opponents) after winning just one road contest last year (Baylor). Prior to this season, the last time OU won a true road game over a ranked foe was during the 2000-01 campaign.
After shooting .500 or better from the field in nine of its first 16 games, OU has done it once in the last 13 outings.
OU is shooting .486 from the field and .403 from 3-point range in its wins but just .375 and .269 in its losses.
Either Blake Griffin (12 times) or Taylor Griffin (six times) has led OU in rebounding in 18 of the last 19 contests.
OU's 14 Big 12 opponents have shot a remarkable .807 from the foul line against the Sooners (205-for-254).
FRONTCOURT UPDATE
Freshman forward Blake Griffin sustained a partially torn medial meniscus in his right knee with 15:15 remaining in the first half of Saturday's 64-37 win over Texas A&M. Griffin underwent arthroscopic surgery on Sunday morning and is expected to return to game action sometime during the Big 12 Championship (March 13-16). Griffin also injured his left knee this season (sprained medial collateral ligament) five minutes into OU's game at Kansas on Jan. 14 (he missed the rest of that contest as well as the team's next game against Texas Tech).
In his 12 full Big 12 games, Griffin is averaging 17.2 points, 10.6 rebounds and 2.3 assists. OU's leading scorer (15.2) and rebounder (9.3) on the year, he has scored in double figures in 18 of his last 20 games (not including the Kansas contest).
The last OU true freshman to average as many points and rebounds as Griffin for an entire season was Wayman Tisdale (24.5 and 10.3) in 1982-83. Tisdale earned first-team All-America honors as a freshman.
Senior center Longar Longar missed two games due to a broken bone in his lower right leg but has returned to average 24.3 minutes off the bench over his six games since (he is averaging 7.5 points and 4.3 rebounds while shooting .375 from the field in those six outings).
The team's second-leading scorer, rebounder and shot-blocker on the year with his 11.9, 5.5 and 1.0 respective averages, Longar scored a game-high 14 points and grabbed a game-high-tying eight boards Saturday against Texas A&M. He is shooting .500 from the field on the year and averages 4.4 free throw attempts per outing.
Seeing a major increase in minutes the last month and a half, junior forward Taylor Griffin averaged 9.5 points and 6.3 rebounds over a 10-game stretch (starting on Jan. 14) before averaging 2.0 points and 6.0 boards over the last three outings (he was held scoreless Feb. 23 at Texas and Feb. 27 at Nebraska). Griffin has started 11 of the last 12 games (averaging 27.0 minutes).
Starting in place of his injured younger brother on Jan. 19 against Texas Tech, Taylor Griffin tied a then-career high with 16 points and grabbed a then-season-high 12 rebounds. On Jan. 28 against Oklahoma State, he was 7-for-8 from the field and scored a career-high 20 points and pulled down a game-high six boards. On Feb. 6 against Texas, he netted 12 points and grabbed a career-high 15 boards as he started in place of an injured Longar.

Junior Omar Leary is averaging 4.2 points in 16.8 minutes per game. He started eight of the team's first 10 contests but has come off the bench in each of the last 19. A .400 shooter from 3-point range (24-for-60), he has 12 points over the last 10 games.
