NORMAN, Okla. - Willie Warren, who in November signed a letter of intent to play basketball at Oklahoma beginning next year, will participate in Wednesday's McDonald's All-American High School Game at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wis. The game will tip at 8:30 p.m. CDT and will be televised by ESPN.
Warren, a 6-4, 195-pound combo guard from Fort Worth, Texas, who is a senior at North Crowley High School, is one of 24 players competing in the esteemed McDonald's Game. He is the only participant who has signed with a Big 12 Conference school.
The 2008 Gatorade Texas Boys' Basketball Player of the Year, Warren averaged 24.9 points, 3.5 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 3.4 steals per game for the North Crowley Panthers. He led his squad to a 38-1 record and finished with 27 points and eight assists in a 73-67 Class 5A state title game victory over Fort Bend Dulles on March 8.
Warren is the seventh OU signee to earn McDonald's All-American honors. The others were Wayman Tisdale (1982), Jeff Webster (1989), Ryan Humphrey (1997), Drew Lavender (2003), Scottie Reynolds (2006) and Blake Griffin (2007).
Warren was also selected to participate in the Jordan Brand All-American Classic, to be played April 19 at 8 p.m. CDT inside New York City's Madison Square Garden (televised by ESPN2).
