• This is the 26th NCAA appearance for Oklahoma, which is now 33-24 all-time in the Big Dance. The Sooners have won in the first round in four of their past five appearances and six of their last eight.
• Oklahoma last played in Birmingham 20 years ago in the 1988 Southeast Regionals, winning both games to advance to the Final Four.
• Saint Joseph's is 18-23 all-time in 19 NCAA Tournament appearances (includes four losses in consolation games). This was the first trip back to the NCAA Tournament for the Hawks since 2004 when they reached the Elite Eight.
• Saint Joseph's dropped to 4-4 as the lower-seeded team in NCAA play.
• Oklahoma Jeff Capel earned his first NCAA Tournament victory as a head coach in his second appearance. He lost in his only previous try as his 13th-seeded VCU squad lost to Wake Forest by a single point in the first round in 2004.
• This was Saint Joseph's head coach Phil Martelli's fifth trip to the NCAA Tournament, and he now owns a record of 6-5.
• The Sooners are 3-2 as a six seed in the NCAA Tournament.
• Oklahoma is 22-2 this year when scoring at least 60 points, losing only to Stephen F. Austin and Kansas State.
• Of the 136 points scored in the game, only six came from reserves (four by the Hawks' Garrett Williamson, two by Oklahoma's Omar Leary).
• David Godbold scored the first 11 Sooner points of the second half and 16 of the first 25, setting a career high with 25 points. This was his ninth game in double figures this season and second with at least 20.
• Godbold also tied a career high with seven field goals in the game, while his five long balls were one off his personal best (six at Texas A&M).
• Godbold made 5-of-8 three-point baskets. In his last NCAA apperance, against Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2006, he made 4-of-5. The five treys equaled Godbold's career high which he posted on Feb. 2 against Texas A&M. In last week's Big 12 Tournament, Godbold was 1-of-8 outside the arc.
• Oklahoma is now 13-1 when Austin Johnson scores in double figures (10 points today).
• By shooting .571 from the floor, the Sooners had their second most accurate game of the season. It was also the first time they shot better than 50 percent since Jan. 12 (84-82 loss to Kansas State).
• Oddly enough, Oklahoma equaled its lowest rebounding effort of the season, yet still won the battle of the boards, 25-24.
• This was just the third time all season the Sooners did not have a shot blocked.
• The Hawks were just 4-9 this season when allowing their opponent to score at least 70 points (OU had 72) and 2-9 when trailing at the half (behind by 12 tonight). Interestingly, it was just the second loss in 10 games in which Saint Joseph's committed more turnovers
than its opponent.
• This was just the third loss for Saint Joseph's by more than six points all season.
• The 22 points in the first half was the second-lowest scoring output for the Hawks this year in any half (21 points vs. Holy Cross on Dec. 4).
