NORMAN, Okla. - Oklahoma senior Jonathan Horton will be featured Saturday in the Tylenol Skating and Gymnastics Spectacular presented by Chesapeake Energy. The made-for-TV event will air at 1:30 p.m. CT on NBC. Viewers should check their local listings to confirm times in their area.
Horton joins a star-studded cast that includes 2004 Olympic all-around gold-medalist Paul Hamm and 2007 world balance beam champion Nastia Liukin, a member of the U.S. women's team that took gold at the 2007 World Championships.
In addition to his long list of collegiate accolades, Horton is quickly becoming a star on the international gymnastics scene. The Houston, Texas, native finished fourth in the all-around at the 2007 World Championships, becoming just the fifth American man to finish in the top four at a World Championships or Olympic Games. Horton is also the two-time defending Tyson American Cup champion, the first male gymnast to go back-to-back at the event since the USA's Blaine Wilson won three-in-a-row from 1997-1999.
Other gymnasts participating in the event include Horton's 2007 World Championships teammate Kevin Tan, the 2006 and 2007 U.S. still rings champion, and Raj Bhavsar, a member of the 2001 and 2003 world silver-medalist U.S. teams.
