Trailing 64-63, Oklahoma called timeout with 10 seconds left to set up a final play. Godbold inbounded to Johnson, who looked for a shot but couldn't beat a Texas Tech double team. He passed back to Godbold, who hit a 3-pointer about six feet behind the line.
Tech gave one final heave but Martin Zeno missed on a well-guarded 3-pointer as time expired.
Before the winning play, Texas Tech had a one-point lead with less than a minute remaining. The Red Raiders held the ball for the full shot clock before Martin Zeno missed a leaning 3-pointer, giving the ball back to the Sooners.
Godbold finished with eight points, while Blake Griffin grabbed 17 rebounds for Oklahoma (17-8, 5-5 Big 12).
Texas Tech (13-11, 4-6) is 1-3 since coach Pat Knight took over for his father after Bob Knight retired.
