WEDNESDAY'S IOWA STATE RECAP
Solid 3-point (7-for-17) and free throw (25-for-29) shooting, a 39-30 rebounding advantage and the return of senior center Longar Longar from injury helped lift Oklahoma to a 76-64 home win over Iowa State on Wednesday. OU also held the Cyclones to a .397 field goal mark.
Tony Crocker scored 22 points (tying his second-highest career total) on only five field goal makes. He was 10-for-10 from the free throw line and matched a career high with nine rebounds.

FRONTCOURT UPDATE
Senior center Longar Longar missed two games due to a broken bone in his lower right leg but returned to play 27 minutes Wednesday against Iowa State. The team's second-leading scorer and rebounder on the year with his 12.9 and 5.8 respective averages, he registered six points and five boards against the Cylones. Longar is shooting .514 from the field on the season and has scored at least nine points in 12 of his last 14 outings. Longar also leads the squad with his 26 blocked shots.
OU's leading scorer (14.9) and rebounder (8.5) on the year, Blake Griffin has scored in double figures in 14 of his last 15 games (not including the Jan. 14 Kansas contest when he left five minutes into the game with a sprained MCL in his left knee) and has netted at least 15 points in nine of his last 11 outings.
Three of Griffin's seven double-doubles have come against ranked opponents. He had 15 points and 14 rebounds in a win over Gonzaga, 18 points and 16 boards in a win at West Virginia and 17 points and 15 rebounds in a victory at Baylor. Griffin also registered 19 points and nine boards against No. 12 Texas on Feb. 6.
Despite not scoring and grabbing just one rebound in his five minutes against Kansas, Griffin ranks 10th in the Big 12 in scoring (14.9 ppg), fourth in rebounding (8.5 rpg) and third in double-doubles (seven). He also leads the league in field goal percentage (.580) and paces OU with his 26 steals (tied with Austin Johnson).
The last OU freshman to average as many points as Griffin for an entire season was Jeff Webster (18.3) in 1990-91 and the last OU frosh to average as many rebounds was Wayman Tisdale (10.3) in 1982-83.

SERIES WITH THE RED RAIDERS
Oklahoma owns a 26-16 all-time record against Texas Tech but has a losing record (8-10) in games played in Lubbock.
The Sooners have won nine of the last 13 overall meetings, including three of the last five at United Spirit Arena.
OU is 17-8 against Texas Tech since the inception of the Big 12 (that includes a 2-0 record in the league tournament).
EARLIER THIS YEAR AGAINST TEXAS TECH
In the season's first meeting between the teams on Jan. 19 in Norman, Oklahoma played without leading scorer and rebounder Blake Griffin and overcame a seven-point deficit midway through the second half to post a 63-61 victory. With 16 points each, Taylor Griffin and Longar Longar paced four Sooners in double figures in scoring. Taylor Griffin pulled down 12 boards while Longar grabbed nine. Tony Crocker was 3-for-4 from 3-point range and finished with 15 points while David Godbold added 11 points and seven rebounds. OU won despite shooting .410 from the field, .294 from 3-point range (5-for-17) and .571 from the free throw line (8-for-14). Texas Tech shot .426, .500 (5-for-10) and .889 (16-for-18), respectively. Both teams committed 13 turnovers, but OU commanded a 40-27 rebounding advantage (the Sooners scored 12 second-chance points to the Red Raiders' none). Martin Zeno led Tech with 17 points while John Roberson and Alan Voskuil both netted 14.
MORE ON BLAKE GRIFFIN
The last Sooner, regardless of class, to average as many rebounds as Blake Griffin is averaging this year (8.5) was then-senior and now-Denver Nugget Eduardo Najera in 1999-2000 (9.2 rpg).
Griffin holds OU's top three scoring performances this season. He netted 27 against Kansas State (Jan. 12), 26 versus Mount St. Mary's (Jan. 7) and 25 at Colorado (last Saturday). He also holds six of OU's top seven rebounding marks this year.
Griffin is just 18 points shy of matching Nate Carter's team high of 360 points last season. Carter played in 31 games as a senior last year while Griffin has played in just 23 this season.
A testament to his overall ability, Griffin has 18 assists over the past six games for a 3.0 average (Austin Johnson is the next closest Sooner with 15 assists over the same period). Griffin has 10 handouts over the last three games.
DOMINATING THE LONE STAR STATE
OU has had more than its share of success against Big 12 Conference teams from Texas. The Sooners own a 128-50 (.719) all-time record against Baylor (32-5), Texas (45-25), Texas A&M (25-4) and Texas Tech (26-16). Since the inception of the Big 12, OU is 23-0 against Baylor, 16-12 versus Texas, 20-4 against Texas A&M and 17-8 versus Texas Tech for a combined 76-24 record (.760).
ROAD SCHOLAR
Junior Austin Johnson performed considerably better in home games than road contests during his first two years as a Sooner. That trend has reversed itself this season. In OU's seven road games this year, Johnson is averaging 9.4 points, 3.1 rebounds and 3.6 assists while shooting .484 from 3-point range (15-for-31). In 14 home games, the combo guard is averaging 7.4 points, 2.8 boards and 2.4 assists while shooting .222 from long range (12-for-54). Johnson has made more than one trey at home just three times this season (two each against Arkansas, Oklahoma State and Iowa State), but has made at least two in five of the team's seven road contests.
