Head Coach Bob Stoops |
“Offensively, I thought we had a nice balance of run and pass. We did a good job in both areas and took care of the football again. I thought Sam Bradford was exceptional again with five touchdown passes and over 300 yards passing. Running the ball, Chris Brown and DeMarco Murray were great, they ended up being players of the game along with Trent Williams up front and Quentin Chaney outside. He had five catches for over 100 yards and really played well. Defensively, Frank Alexander was one of the defensive players of the game along with Dominique Franks.
“It was a good solid game and a good win, but it moves us on further down the road to a good game at A&M. They are really coming on; you could see in the Colorado game that they are really playing well. Their quarterback Jared Johnson is playing well and he is getting better and more comfortable. He makes good decisions and really limits his mistakes. Their defensive coordinator does a great job and keeps them disciplined and good at what they do. Going down to A&M is always an exciting but challenging thing. We have to be focused and prepared as we go down there like always.”
On if he feels that OU has to win and collect style points:
“I think that has been the case for quite a while now. It's the style points of when you're playing, who you're playing and where you're playing. All of that matters. Some people take that into consideration.”
On Texas A&M's Javorski Lane:
“He is still a strong, physical presence and has been used in both the halfback and fullback position. You just have to be aware of him while he is in there, but regardless of that, you just have to mind your gaps and be where you need to be to defend the play.”
On the atmosphere at Kyle Field:
“It's always exciting. They have an excellent stadium and an excellent tradition with their cadets. It's an interesting tradition with all of the different calls that they have. I sit around before the game and pay attention to them and try to figure out what it is that they are doing. They all seem to know, so more power to them. You have to give credit to them though, they do a good job with it.”
On the impact of missing Auston English:
“Well obviously it hurts; you don't want to lose any of your starters. Auston is having an excellent year. It's disappointing for us, and for him as well I'm sure. But in the end you just have to keep moving on. Frank Alexander, the only thing that gives you a great feeling, he has been recognized as one of our players of the game or a guy who really had a positive impact on the game. Last week as well, a sack, two or three batted balls, a couple of pressures and some tackles for loss. So Frank will just have to step it up, and then the other guys in there have to come one and help as well.”
On the turnover battle on the road:
“It's critical. We always talk about and emphasize being careful with the football, and protecting it. Whether you are on the road or at home it's a big deal, and hopefully we can continue to do it.”
On Texas A&M's offense with Mike Sherman:
“It is different from what they are doing a year ago. They mix their run and pass well with a lot of intermediate and control passing.”
On the creation of turnovers:
“You know how it is. Some games you are going to get more than others. I think we either lead the league or are within one of the league lead in turnovers forced. I would say that we have done a fair job of it through nine games. We aren't doing anything different, other than sometimes we are playing a little bit better or they aren't.”

Senior WR Quentin Chaney |
On the Big 12 South race:
“We just take it one game at a time. Whatever happens on a scoreboard, we have no concerns or control, except for who we play next week.”
On his increased role in the offense:
“I believe that it's something I've been waiting my turn for and every time I got the opportunity, I made the most of it. You never know when your chance is the last one you get, so you just have to make the most of every chance you get. And as far as my role, I'm just having fun. I don't see it as being a big or small role, but just having fun.”
On the up-tempo offense:
“Coach Wilson believes in the players and the things we're able to do. He reads off of us and certain plays are made for different formations. That's just one thing that he's able to do and get different people in formation, which can really spread out a defense. Anytime you have a lot of experience, that helps out a lot with the understanding of the game and what coach is saying.”
On playing at Kyle Field:
“Last time we were down there it was loud, but we kind of kept the crowd out of it. We didn't let them get too loud, but it can get kind of hectic at times. If you get caught looking into the stands, that can mess you up a little bit and get you off focus. So you have to stay focus.”

Senior DE Alan Davis |
On defensive mentality:
“Somebody has to step up and rise to the challenge when you lose great players like Auston and Ryan (Reynolds), but everyone on our team was recruited for a reason and has the ability to play. I have faith in all my teammates and know they can play.”
On the defense:
“We have played well, but I think our defense can play much better. Giving up that many points in a game is not what Oklahoma football is about. When it is someone else's turn to step up and play, our team supports him and rallies around him.”
On playing at College Station:
“It's always a different atmosphere wherever we play, but we pack our stands with about 85,000 fans, too. So I don't view it as intimidating, I think the game goes to whoever can play the best. It's a business trip, but I also know that it's exciting to get to play different places. It's a good experience.”
On the Big 12 race:
“We are taking it one game at a time. We aren't looking back and we aren't looking too far ahead. We just focus on the game we have now, which is A&M. We aren't worried about any other game right now. We are focused and know what we have to do.”
On young defensive ends:
“Frank Alexander is going to be an asset to Oklahoma football for a long time. He works hard every day and has a great attitude. R.J. has progressed a lot and David King is also going to be one to keep your eye on.”
