The win was Oklahoma's first over a top five opponent and second against a team in the top 10. When OU defeated Texas for the first time in 2006, the Longhorns were eighth in the country.
Oklahoma's .229 hitting percentage was the Sooners' third highest in a conference game this season.
The 60 kills tallied by the Sooners ties for the second most this season in a single match. Previously, OU tallied 60 against Kansas and 63 at Baylor.
Oklahoma put up 170 attacks on the Longhorns. It ties for the fourth largest total this year, trailing 192 (at Baylor), 183 (at Texas A&M), 171 (vs. Missouri) and 170 (vs. Kansas State).
The Sooners' six service aces tied for the most in a conference game this season (vs. Missouri, at Baylor and at Texas A&M).
Oklahoma hit .357 in the first set, connecting on 11-of-28 total attacks with just one error. The Sooners have hit above .350 in the opening set only once this year (.378 vs. Kansas State).
The five-set marathon marked the first time this season that OU won the opening set and went on to win the match in more than three sets. The Sooners are now 3-4 in five set matches on the season.
The victory was OU's first road win since upending Texas Tech in Lubbock on Sept. 12.
Oklahoma returns home Sunday afternoon to take on Baylor in a 2 p.m. CT contest from McCasland Field House. Fans are reminded to set their clocks back one hour Saturday evening. The team hosts Sooner Kids Club Day and the first 250 fans in attendance receive an OU volleyball drawstring bag. The team will also sign autographs following the match.
