LINCOLN, Neb. -- The University of Oklahoma soccer team dropped its Big 12 opener on Friday in a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Nebraska.

The Cornhuskers' Carly Perez scored the game's only goal in the fifth minute on a header off a free kick by Selenia Iacchelli.

The loss drops OU's record to 4-3-2 overall (0-1 Big 12) while Nebraska improves 4-2-3 (1-0 Big 12).

"We got outplayed tonight and they had the better opportunities," said OU head coach Randy Evans.  "Besides the goal, our defense looked good and offensively, we had some good scoring chances."

One of the Sooners' best chances came at the 41:58 mark when senior Allyson Kucera fired a shot off the Nebraska post.

Redshirt freshman Tara Macdonald allowed the goal in the first half, the first she has allowed this season after recording two shutouts in her first two starts last weekend at home.  Macdonald made a career-high 11 saves and fell to 1-1-1.

Senior Tenesha Duncan led the Sooners with two shots off the bench.

"We are obviously disappointed with the loss, but we have to find out how to manufacture some goals," added Evans. "We are missing some fire power with some injuries and that is the team's focus till we get back to 100 percent."

The Sooners will look to rebound on Sunday in Ames, Iowa, as they take on Iowa State at 1 p.m. at the ISU Soccer Complex.
