MOSCOW, Idaho - The No. 21 Oklahoma volleyball team bounced back Saturday afternoon with a 3-1 (31-29, 30-25, 23-30, 30-28) victory over Oregon State, who is receiving votes in the top 25, Saturday afternoon in the Idaho Classic.
The Sooners improved to 4-1 on the season while Oregon State fell to 3-2. Oklahoma's offense was improved from Friday night's performance as the Sooners recorded a .236 hitting percentage behind the play of sophomore Bridget Laplante, who recorded a match-high 21 kills on a .425 hitting percentage.
In addition, Laplante notched her second double-double of the season as she collected 13 digs. Mariana Blum recorded her second double-double of the season with 14 kills and 13 digs.
Other offensive contributors included Sarah Weiland, who tallied 13 kills against the Beavers while Anna Stadel pounded eight kills against OSU.
Guiding the offense was setter Julie Chester, who recorded 53 assists, while also collecting six digs and adding two aces.
In addition to Laplante and Blum's defense, libero Hannah Sharp collected a career-high 25 digs against Oregon State. Stadel continued her strong play at the net with five blocks assists while Blum also added three block assists.
The Sooners will look to close out the Idaho Classic with momentum as it takes on host Idaho at 9:30 p.m. (CST) tonight in the tournament finale. The Sooners own a 1-1 record in the tournament after falling to Middle Tennessee on Friday night.
