NORMAN, Okla. - The No. 22 OU volleyball team continued to roll on Saturday at the Sooner Legends Nike Invitational. The Sooners recorded their second straight sweep with a 3-0 (30-17, 30-22, 30-20) victory over Seton Hall Saturday morning.
The Sooners will conclude their tournament Saturday night with a 7 p.m. meeting against Alabama.
The Sooner offense continued to stay hot as the team recorded a .360 hitting percentage behind the strong play of Anna Stadel, Bridget Laplante and Francie Ekwerekwu.
Stadel, a senior, recorded a match-high 12 kills on a .611 percentage after only notching one attack error through all three games.
After struggling against Denver on Friday, Laplante came back strong against Seton Hall as she added 10 kills on a .391 clip while also collecting seven digs on the defensive side of the ball.
Ekwerekwu has been steady in her first collegiate tournament and notched 11 kills against the Pirates while also teaming up for two block assists.
Leading the offense was senior setter Julie Chester, who tallied 42 assists, while outside hitter Sarah Weiland added five assists to her eight kills.
Senior Mariana Blum, who highlighted the offense on Friday, was impressive on the defensive end as she collected a match-high 18 digs while adding seven kills. Libero Hannah Sharp was steady in the back row with her 14 digs.
Oklahoma was dominant through the match as it only trailed once during the entire three-game match. The Oklahoma defense held Seton Hall to a .111 hitting percentage, including a .053 clip in the first game.
The Sooners and Crimson Tide will close out the tournament at 7 p.m. tonight. Alabama, who is receiving votes in the top 25, and No. 22 Oklahoma both have a 2-0 record throughout the Sooner Legends Nike Invitational.
