NORMAN, Okla. - Oklahoma volleyball coach Santiago Restrepo, the Big 12 and Central Region Coach of the Year, will be honored on Saturday night at the Oklahoma Redhawks minor league baseball game as he throws out the first pitch.
The Redhawks will be taking on the Iowa Cubs at 7:05 p.m. at the AT&T Bricktown Ballpark.
Restrepo also earned CVU.com National Coach of the Year honors after leading the 2006 squad to the best season in school history. The Sooners finished No. 12 in the country with a 28-6 overall record after advancing to the NCAA Sweet 16 for only the second time in school history.
The 2007 squad began preseason practice this past Wednesday and will have three weeks to prepare for its opening tournament, the Sooner Legends Nike Invitational (Aug. 24-25).
Fans can catch an early glimpse of this year's squad on Aug. 18 when the Sooners hold their annual Red/White Scrimmage followed by lunch. The events will begin at 10:30 a.m. and will be free for all those in attendance.
