NORMAN, Okla. -- The baseball infield at L. Dale Mitchell Park was overhauled this week by the OU grounds crew.

The old sod, which was installed in 2000, was removed and the dirt was leveled on Tuesday.

After the surfaces was laser graded, 13,000 square feet of bermuda grass was installed on Wednesday (8,000 in the infield and 5,000 down the base lines, around the warning track and on trouble spots).

In addition, the insides of the home and visitor dugouts were re-done with new padding and paint to match the tops of the structures, which were painted near the end of the 2007 season.
