NORMAN, Okla. -- The OU soccer team went 2-0 over the weekend to conclude the spring schedule at home. The Sooners began the weekend on Friday with a 1-0 win over Central Oklahoma.
Freshman Whitney Palmer scored the game winner with 12 minutes remaining in the second half. Allyson Kucera was credited with the assist after finding Palmer on a break away. Palmer took the assist and dribbled past the UCO goalkeeper for the score.
Sophomore goalkeeper Tara Macdonald kept the game scoreless with a key save before the Sooners' lone goal.
Head coach Randy Evans described Friday's game against UCO as a game of missed chances in the first half.
"It looked like one of those games that you might get punished by not putting away opportunities when you get them," said Evans. "But a great play from Ally and terrific finish by Whitney put the game away."
Against SMU, the scoring again came from Palmer. The freshman tallied the goal on an assist from Kate Leyendecker. That was all the scoring OU would need as they finished Saturday's game with another 1-0 victory.
