Maze No Longer on Basketball Team

April 24, 2007 | Men's Basketball

NORMAN, Okla. University of Oklahoma men's basketball head coach Jeff Capel announced Tuesday that freshman guard Bobby Maze is no longer a member of the OU squad.

"Bobby and I met last week and we came to an agreement that he and our program will part ways," said Capel.  "This decision is best for Bobby and for our team.  I appreciate Bobby's efforts this past season and certainly wish him well in the future."

Maze, who missed OU's first six games last year with a broken foot, averaged 5.6 points, 1.9 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 18.6 minutes a contest.  He made five starts on the year, all over the team's final six games.  Maze shot .453 from the field and .696 from the free throw line.  He scored a season-high 17 points in OU's Big 12 opener at Texas Tech.
