NORMAN, Okla. -- On March 31, OU traveled northeast to play at the University of Tulsa. OU won 3-1 thanks to a hat-trick from freshman Whitney Palmer. Shana All, Becca Nelson and Audri Habibi each contributed an assist in the Sooners' victory.
“Whitney has both great pace and a good mind for the game," said OU head coach Randy Evans "We hope the Tulsa game is an indication of the impact she will be able to make for our attack next fall."
The Sooners followed the win at Tulsa with a pair of games against Mississippi and Northeastern State in a tournament hosted by Bixby High School.
OU dropped a 1-0 decision to Ole Miss despite a solid effort and then went on to beat NSU, 2-0. Once again, Palmer was involved offensively with a goal and Audri Habibi tallied the Sooners' other goal on a penalty kick.
“It was certainly hard to give up a goal in the last two minutes to Ole Miss but I was encouraged by our level of play," said Evans. "We had success in a lot of areas that we have been working on this spring against a very good Mississippi team."
Next up for the Sooners is a pair of home games versus UCO on Friday night at 6:00 p.m. and Southern Methodist on Saturday at 2 p.m.
