Griffin Aids West in McDonald's Win

NORMAN, Okla.  Blake Griffin and his West teammates scored a 114-112 victory in the McDonald's All-American High School Game at Freedom Hall in Lousiville, Ky., Wednesday night.

Griffin, who will be a freshman on the Oklahoma men's basketball team next season, registered four points, five rebounds and one assist in 16 minutes of action.  He was 2-for-3 from the field with both of his makes coming in the first half.  One of his field goals was a powerful two-handed jam from the baseline.

The performance came two nights after Griffin captured the Powerade Jam Fest dunk contest crown.

The 6-9, 235-pound Griffin averaged 26.8 points, 15.1 rebounds, 4.9 assists, 2.9 blocks and 1.6 steals a game this past season in leading Oklahoma Christian School to a 26-3 record and a fourth consecutive state tournament title.  He shot .718 from the field on the year.

Griffin is the sixth OU signee to be selected a McDonald's All-American and the second in as many years.  The others were Wayman Tisdale (1982), Jeff Webster (1989), Ryan Humphrey (1997), Drew Lavender (2003) and Scottie Reynolds (2006). Reynolds signed with the Sooners in November 2005 and was later released from his letter of intent.

Griffin will also compete in the Jordan Brand All-American Classic April 21 at New York's Madison Square Garden (televised by ESPN2).
