Signee Griffin in McDonald's Game

NORMAN, Okla. University of Oklahoma men's basketball signee Blake Griffin will be one of 24 seniors competing in Wednesday's McDonald's All-American High School Game to be played at 7 p.m. CST at Freedom Hall in Louisville, Ky. The game will be televised by ESPN. Griffin, who earlier this month led Oklahoma Christian School to a fourth consecutive Oklahoma high school state title, will be a member of the 12-man West team.

The Powerade Jam Fest dunk contest, which Griffin won on Monday, will air on ESPN Wednesday at 6 p.m. CST, immediately before the All-American Game.

The 6-9, 235-pound Griffin averaged 26.8 points, 15.1 rebounds, 4.9 assists, 2.9 blocks and 1.6 steals a game this year in leading Oklahoma Christian School to a 26-3 record and 2A state crown. He shot .718 from the field on the season.

Griffin Wins Dunk Contest

Griffin is one of four players in the game (all on the West squad) who have signed letters of intent to attend a Big 12 Conference school next year. Kansas, Kansas State and Oklahoma State have each signed one McDonald's All-American.

Wednesday's McDonald's game will mark the first of two national all-star games for Griffin. He will also compete in the Jordan Brand All-American Classic April 21 at New York's Madison Square Garden (televised by ESPN2).

Griffin is the sixth OU signee to be selected a McDonald's All-American and the second in as many years. The others were Wayman Tisdale (1982), Jeff Webster (1989), Ryan Humphrey (1997), Drew Lavender (2003) and Scottie Reynolds (2006). Reynolds signed with the Sooners in November 2005 and was later released from his letter of intent.
