NORMAN, Okla. (AP) -- Reigning player of the year Courtney Paris and her twin sister made it clear they're ready for back-to-back games against the past two national champions. Though it might take a little longer, their reinforcements at No. 6 Oklahoma aren't far behind.
Paris scored 25 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to help the Sooners beat Oklahoma Christian 110-51 Tuesday night in their final exhibition tuneup before opening the regular season against 2006 national champion Maryland and defending champion Tennessee.
"I thought the team used their athleticism well," OU head coach Sherri Coale said. "They did some good things with technique and rotation. Overall, I think our attention to detail was really good.
"We had some nice interior passing and you expect that from Courtney and Ashley (Paris), they've been playing together for so long. It went all the way down (the roster)."
When Paris and her sister, Ashley, were on the floor, the Sooners outscored their NAIA opponents 29-0 in the first half. When they were on the bench, a mix of regulars and backups edged the Eagles 28-26 and only after Carlee Roethlisberger converted a three-point play and turned a steal into a layup in the final 7.4 seconds before halftime.
The Sooners outscored Oklahoma Christian 38-0 while the Parises were on the court until Devin Sewell hit a baseline jumper just over 2 minutes into the second half.
The game was never close, as Oklahoma scored the first 18 points, including 12 from Courtney Paris, and led 41-7 after 12½ minutes.
Oklahoma Christian then went on a 14-2 run against Oklahoma's backups, who'll take on an increasing role this season after the team lost six seniors.
It was much smoother for the group in the second half, as they continued to build on a sizable lead with a 15-0 run immediately after Courtney Paris went to the bench for the final time with 13:14 remaining. That pushed the lead to 91-36, and it was never closer than 50 afterward.
Roethlisberger, the sister of Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, scored 14 points to lead three freshmen in double figures. Jenny Vining made three 3-pointers among her 13 points and Danielle Robinson scored 12 and had a team-high six assists.
"They're very confident," said Coale of her freshmen. "That's my favorite thing about this group -- is they have some swagger to them. It's just there; it's not a false sense of confidence. They come from great high school teams and they're players who have won a lot of games."
Ashley Paris had nine points and eight rebounds.
Kailan DeCamp scored 13 points to lead Oklahoma Christian, which committed 30 turnovers. Oklahoma had 24 steals.
