NORMAN, Okla. -- The OU soccer team's offensive struggles continued on Sunday against Kansas as it suffered a 1-0 loss in front of 337 fans at John Crain Field.

KU's Jessica Bush scored the game's lone goal in the 68th minute on an assist by Shannon McCabe. Statistically, the teams played each other even throughout the game as the shot count was tied at 12 apiece and the Jayhawks held a 4-3 advantage in corner kicks.

The second straight loss drops Oklahoma to 3-7 overall and 0-3 in Big 12 play, while Kansas improves to 6-3 (1-1).  The Jayhawks continued their recent success against the Sooners with their fifth consecutive win in the series and eighth overall in 11 meetings.

“The level of play (at this point in the season) is where we want to be.  We are giving ourselves opportunities to beat really good teams,” said head coach Randy Evans.  “Unfortunately, the story of the season continues to be our inability to find the back of the net.  I felt like we created twice as many scoring chances today and did not capitalize on them.  Kansas connected on one of its three or four scoring opportunities and that was the difference in the game.

“We need someone on the offensive half of the field to be a difference maker and that individual has not emerged this season.”

The Sooners controlled the play at the end of the first half and in the beginning portion of the second session.  With under a minute to go, junior Shana All created space in the KU box but her shot was saved by goalkeeper Julie Hanley.  The Sooners finished the first half with an 8-3 advantage in shots.

Eight minutes after halftime, senior Kady Kelly found herself on a breakaway but was stopped after Hanley appeared to be outside of the box and made a play on Kelly before touching the ball, deflecting it out of bounds.

Kelly and junior Jayme Seetin led all Sooners with two shots apiece in the game.  OU junior goalkeeper Jennifer Nichols made three saves in the contest and fell to 3-7 overall on the season.

For Kansas, McCabe led the game with three shots and Hanley (6-3) made three saves, including a stop on junior Tenesha Duncan's breakaway in the 66th minute.

Next up for the Sooners is arguably the toughest weekend of the season as they travel south across the border to play at Texas A&M on Friday, Sept. 29 and at Texas on Sunday, Oct. 1 (televised by ESNPU).  The Longhorns are ranked as high as No. 11 in this week's Soccer America poll and the Aggies are as high as No. 12 in the Soccer Buzz and Soccer Times polls.
