NORMAN, Okla. - Adding to its record-breaking season, the Oklahoma volleyball team recorded its highest ranking in history Monday afternoon as the AVCA Coaches' Poll was released and had the Sooners slotted at No. 12.
The previous program-best ranking was in 1988 when the Sooners were voted No. 13 in the final poll released that season. 1988 also marked the only other time in the 32-year history of the program that the Sooners have been in the top-25.
The Sooners, who are busy preparing for their first NCAA Sweet 16 since 1988, continue to add to their impressive season as Big 12 Coach of the Year Santiago Restrepo has led Oklahoma to the best turnaround in Big 12 history while also recording the best winning percentage in school history and the best conference finish ever (second) with a 17-3 final Big 12 mark. Currently owning a 28-5 record, the Sooners have accumulated more wins than any OU team since the 1980 squad that went 36-23.
