Golfers Finish Round One in Hawaii

NORMAN, Okla.-- The University of Oklahoma women's golf team is tied for 12th place after one round of play at the Kent Youel Invitaional in Kapolei, Hawaii. The Sooners shot a 316 (+28) on the par-72, 6,138-yard Kapolei Golf Course, 19 strokes behind leader San Francisco.
Junior Kelly Jacques leads OU after firing a first-round 76 (+4) and stands in a 16th-place tie. Shortly behind Jacques is sophomore Kendall Dye. In a tie for 30th place, Dye finished the first 18 holes 6-over par.
Senior Jaclyn Stelzer shot an 80 (+8) and is currently in a tie for 50th while sophomore Staci Smoot stands in a tie for 65th after carding an 82. Senior Megan Goodwin is 15-over par and is in a 80th-place tie
Lacey Jones of SMU leads the tournament after firing two-under par in the first round.
The Sooners are expected conclude second-round play Tuesday night at 11 p.m. CDT. The 16-team field will return to the greens for the final 18 holes Wednesday beginning at 12:30 p.m. CDT.
