Four Sooners in Senior Bowl Saturday

NORMAN, Okla. -- Four Oklahoma Sooners are set to play in this weekend's Senior Bowl at Mobile, Ala. Defensive tackle Dusty Dvoracek, linebacker Clint Ingram, offensive lineman Davin Joseph and receiver Travis Wilson are all members of the North roster, which will be coached by the Tennessee Titans' staff.

The game kicks off at 3 p.m., Saturday, at Ladd-Peebles Stadium. It will be televised by ESPN.

Dvoracek was a dominant force in his senior season. His 19 tackles for loss led the nation's interior defensive lineman. He finished with 45 career TFL, the fifth-highest total in Oklahoma history, the third-best total a lineman.

Although he had five interceptions on the season, tying for the highest total ever by a Sooner linebacker, Ingram will be best remembered for the final play of his career. That interception against Oregon in the Holiday Bowl stopped a late Duck drive to preserve OU's 17-14 win over the nation's No. 6-ranked team.

Ingram, Oklahoma's strong side linebacker, finished the season with 61 tackles.

Joseph made a splash early in his career then became a mainstay for the Sooner offensive line. His first start came in the 2002 Big 12 Championship game. He went on to start the Rose Bowl that same season.

In 2005, after moving from right guard to left tackle, he earned the team's highest line grade. He had a team-high 108 knockdown blocks and was called for only three penalties.

Wilson was slowed in his senior season by a stress fracture in his foot. That injury finally required surgery after the 10th game. Subsequently, he missed the regular season finale and the bowl game.

Wilson finished his OU career with 17 touchdown receptions, the second-highest total in school history behind the 31 from Mark Clayton. Clayton was the first-round pick of the Baltimore Ravens in last spring's NFL draft.

Oklahoma finished the season 8-4 overall and 6-2 in the Big 12 Conference while playing the nation's most difficult schedule. The Sooners were ranked No. 22 in the final polls.

The Senior Bowl players will have one practice session per day during the week - January 23-27 -- capped off by the 57th annual Senior Bowl game on Saturday, January 28. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. and the contest will be nationally-televised by ESPN. The contest is also a complete sellout in 40,646-seat Ladd-Peebles Stadium.

ESPN and the NFL Network are also televising Senior Bowl practices this year with over 11 hours of coverage during the week. Remaining ESPN practice telecasts will air from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday through Friday of the week, while remaining NFL Network shows will air from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, as well as a 30-minute wrap-up show later that evening. The Senior Bowl is the nation's premier pre-draft showcase, annually featuring the top senior NFL draft prospects on teams coached by the entire coaching staffs of two National Football League teams.

San Francisco 49ers head coach Mike Nolan and his staff is coaching the South squad in this year's game.

Senior Bowl practices are also attended by over 700 NFL general managers, head coaches, scouts and other front office personnel each year.

In 2005, ten Senior Bowlers were chosen in the first-round of the NFL Draft and 83 players were drafted overall. Ninety-five percent of last year's Senior Bowl players made active rosters in the NFL in 2005, including the NFL's Offensive Rookie of the Year - running back Cadillac Williams of Tampa Bay.

Over 560 former Senior Bowl players were on active rosters in the NFL in 2005. Twenty-six former Senior Bowlers were named to rosters for this year's NFL Pro Bowl game including the league's MVP, running back Shaun Alexander of the Seahawks, and Bears' linebacker Brian Urlacher, the NFL's Defensive Player of the Year.

The Senior Bowl is also a non-profit, charity event that, together with its charitable partner Food World, distributed over $1.2 million to charities in 2005.
