January 23, 2006 | Volleyball

NORMAN, Okla. - The postseason awards keep rolling in for OU volleyball player Eliane Santos.  The junior middle blocker picked up her second Collegiate Volleyball Update award this month as she was named to the CVU.com Stellar Spikers honorable mention list.  Earlier this month, Santos was selected as one of the top five blockers in the country by Collegiate Volleyball Update.

Santos, a transfer from the College of Southern Idaho, finished the season with a team-leading 3.86 kills per game, which ranked fifth among all Big 12 players.  In addition, Santos averaged a team-best 1.57 blocks per game in 2005 (fourth in the Big 12).

Complete List of Stellar Spikers

In honoring the 70 student athletes from across the nation, CVU.com looked for players that exhibited excellence and balance. While NCAA statistical rankings were considered, they weren't the only consideration. Also considered in forming the two teams of 14 and in choosing the 42 Honorable Mention selections was the impact the player had on helping her team succeed as well as conference awards.

Santos, who has picked up two Collegiate Volleyball Update awards this season, is the only Sooner to ever be recognized by CVU.com.  Santos was one of nine Big 12 volleyball players named to the inaugural Stellar Spiker teams.
