Oklahoma Shuts Down Arkansas 3-0

Scott Earns Another Weekly Honor

September 28, 2005 | Soccer

NORMAN, Okla. -- Oklahoma junior Savannah Scott continues to garner honors after her three-goal performance last weekend.  Scott was selected to the Soccer Buzz Elite Team of the Week as selected by Soccer Buzz magazine.

It is the first time that Scott, who is tied for third on OU's all-time goals scored list (15) and ranks seventh in all-time points (36), was honored by the publication.

It is however the second time that the junior was selected to a soccer magazine's weekly team after OU defeated Texas.  In 2003, Scott scored the game-winning goal against the Longhorns and was selected to Soccer America's Team of the Week.

With three goals (six points) over the weekend, Scott currently leads all Sooners with five goals this season (second in points with 11). Scott also led OU in goals scored a season ago, with six tallies.  In the last two games, the junior has connected on three of her four total shots (.750 shooting percentage).

Earlier this week, Scott was named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week, her first career honor.  Scott shared the honor with Texas A&M's Melissa Garey.  She is the third Sooner this season to garner Big 12 weekly honors (Jennifer Nichols and Lauren MacIver).

The Sooners, who are off to the program's best start (9-1-0 overall, 1-0-0 Big 12) and has won a school-record seven consecutive games, will resume Big 12 play this weekend with a pair of home games at John Crain Field.  OU, ranked No. 25 (Soccer America) will host Texas Tech on Friday, Sept. 30 at 7:30 p.m. and then battle Colorado on Sunday, Oct. 2 at 1 p.m.
