NORMAN, Okla. - The Oklahoma volleyball team swept Indiana (30-28, 30-20, 30-22) Friday morning in the opening round match of the Hampton Inn Bama Bash in Tuscaloosa, Ala. The win also pushed the Sooners' record to a perfect 8-0 in tournament matches under second-year head coach Santiago Restrepo. OU owns an overall season mark of 2-0 while Indiana fell to 1-2 on the year.
“I was extremely pleased with our hitting percentage today,” Restrepo said. “I thought our passing was extremely well and it is impressive to have 20 more digs than the opponent.”

The difference in the game was marked by the offensive production from both squads. The Sooners out hit the Hoosiers .347 to .095 while tallying 50 kills in the contest.
For the second straight match, junior outside hitter Joanna Schmitt fueled the Sooners offensively. The preseason All-Big 12 team member pounded a match-high 19 kills while hitting at an impressive .567 clip, a new career high. Schmitt's previous career high in hitting percentage was .486, set against Oral Roberts last September.
In addition to setting a new career high, Schmitt set a new three-game rally-scoring record with her 19 kills. Schmitt held the previous mark of 18 that was set her freshman season against Drake.
Senior outside hitter Gabriela Tonon added double-digit kills for the second straight match this season. Tonon added 11 kills for the Sooner squad that hit a .571 clip in the final set. Sophomore transfer Sarah Weiland (Tulane) also contributed to the Sooner offense with eight kills while hitting at a match-high .583 clip.
Junior setter Rachel Jackson continued to show consistency after tallying 41 of the team's 45 assists.
Leading the charge defensively was sophomore transfer Hannah Sharp (Louisville) who collected a match-high 10 digs for the Sooners. It marked the second-straight match that Sharp posted double-digit digs. Schmitt also added nine digs for OU.
