NORMAN, Okla. -- The OU soccer team defeated Purdue, 3-2, in an exhibition game in Fort Wayne, Ind., on Saturday in the IPFW Soccer Showcase.  Junior Kady Kelly's goal at the 69:46 mark proved to be the game winner.

It was the lone exhibition game on the Sooners' 2005 slate and they will open the regular season on Friday, Aug. 26 at Saint Louis at 7 p.m.  OU will then return home to host Arkansas on Sunday, Aug. 28 at John Crain Field.

Despite giving up the game's first goal in the 13th minute, OU rallied with three consecutive goals, two in the second half.

Senior Michelle Enos came off the bench to provide the first Sooner goal at the 23:34 mark and was assisted by sophomore Lauren Harris.

At halftime, the game was tied at one goal apiece but junior Savannah Scott helped swing the momentum in OU's favor with an unassisted goal early in the second half (53:56).

With a 2-1 lead, the Sooner offense continued to pressure Purdue and goalkeeper Lauren Mason.  It was sophomore Shana All who set up Kelly for the game-winning goal and a 3-1 Sooner lead.

Sophomore Jennifer Nichols, one of three sophomores to start the contest, got the starting nod in the OU goal and made six saves in 90 minutes of action.  Her counterpart, Mason, gave up three goals and collected four saves after 87-plus minutes of play.

Lauren Sesselmann and Jayme-Lee Biamonte provided the two scores for the Boilermakers.

The OU defense was solid in limiting Purdue's opportunity on set plays as the Sooners held a 5-0 advantage in corner kicks.

Scott and Harris led OU with three shots each, while Enos contributed two.
