Volleyball Hosts Kids' Club Clinic

NORMAN, Okla. - The Oklahoma women's volleyball team hosted its first annual Sooner Kids' Club clinic Saturday morning at the newly renovated Howard McCasland Field House. Over thirty boys and girls between the ages of five and 14 participated in drills and games with the OU volleyball squad. Concluding the clinic the Sooners held their second scrimmage of the preseason.

"It was awesome to have all these young kids here today that are so interested in the sport," head coach Santiago Restrepo said. "Hopefully we will get more kids to come next year and continue to show what a great sport volleyball is to all these young athletes who don't know much about it. It was an exciting day with them."

The University of Oklahoma Sooner Kids' Club is designed to provide special opportunities for young fans of OU's athletics teams. For an annual fee of $30, anyone from Kindergarten through 8th grade (per NCAA rules) can join the club to enjoy a long list of benefits. Members will receive a t-shirt, membership card, a Kids' Club event calendar, birthday cards and an OU gift pack.

Members also will receive free admission to regular season home events in OU soccer, volleyball, women's basketball, wrestling, baseball, softball, gymnastics, tennis and the Red/White Spring Football Game. For more information regarding the Kids' Club e-mail soonerkidsclub@ou.edu.

The Oklahoma volleyball squad will host its Red and White scrimmage next Saturday, Aug. 20 at 9 a.m. inside the Howard McCasland Field House. All fans are invited to attend and are encouraged to join the team for a picnic following the Sooners' final scrimmage of the season. Oklahoma opens the season with a match against TCU Saturday, Aug. 27 in Fort Worth, Texas.
