NORMAN, Okla. (AP) -- Michael Neal scored 21 points and six other Oklahoma players were in double figures as the sixth-ranked Sooners raced past Division II North Carolina-Pembroke 118-62 on Saturday night in an exhibition game.
Neal came off the bench at the 15:45 mark and hit his first of four 3-pointers for Oklahoma.
"You take one or two things from tonight and then you go back to practice and experiment," OU head coach Kelvin Sampson said. "Sometimes as a coach, you have to coach by the seat of your pants. I could care less about the score of this game because you never give up an opportunity to teach."

UNC Pembroke head coach Jason Tinsley agreed with Sampson's assessment.
"I'm grateful for the opportunity that Coach Sampson and the University of Oklahoma gave us to come here and play," Tinsley said. "I mean he can play anybody he wants to play and he chose to play us. We knew before the ball was ever tossed in the air what we were getting into. We know we won't play anybody remotely as good as these guys, so now we will go back and watch tape and find out what things we need to work on to get better."
Oklahoma's Taj Gray, tabbed by Big 12 coaches as the league's preseason player of the year, had 12 of his 20 points in the second half.
Oklahoma took the lead for good about three minutes in on a pair of Chris Walker free throws and closed the half on a 44-19 run.
The alma mater of Sooner head coach Kelvin Sampson, Pembroke couldn't handle Oklahoma's defensive pressure. Pembroke was scoreless from the field during a 9:05 drought that spanned both halves.
Oklahoma forced 28 turnovers and dominated the rebounding 57-12.
"I think we are doing a lot better," Gray said. "In the past couple of practices Coach (Sampson) has really emphasized rebounds, going to the offensive glass and trying to contain the dribble. We're really working in practice and trying to focus on those things each game. Right now, having the exhibition games out of the way, things are getting a lot better."
