OU-Texas: 2005
The OU-Texas game, played each season at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, a location approximately halfway between the two campuses, is one of the country's most spectacular sporting events.
Staged during the State Fair of Texas, the contest is witnessed by a crowd perfectly defined by color -- half crimson, half burnt orange -- in an atmosphere that is arguably more unique than that found at any other game.
The rivalry is one that marks time and gives players and fans alike experiences for a lifetime.
As the Sooners prepare to battle Texas on Saturday, take a look back at OU's winning streak against the Longhorns at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas.
October 7, 2000OU quarterback Josh Heupel led the No. 10 Sooners to touchdowns on their first five drives and linebacker Rocky Calmus returned an interception for another first-half score as Oklahoma beat the No. 11 Longhorns, 63-14.
Quentin Griffin set a school record with six rushing touchdowns as the Sooners scored the most points (at that time) in the storied battle of Red River neighbors.
The 77 combined points were a series record and the winning margin was one shy of the biggest, a 50-0 OU victory in 1908...

October 6, 2001
The Oklahoma Sooners didn't dominate the Texas Longhorns this time. They tricked 'em instead.
Third-ranked Oklahoma set up its only touchdowns by running an option on fourth-and-2 and pooching a punt on a fake field goal, leading to a 14-3 victory over No. 5 Texas.
The game was much more dramatic than last year's 63-14 stomping by the Sooners. Oklahoma led only 7-3 and Texas was driving late in the fourth quarter. But the Sooners' defense came up big, intercepting three straight passes by Chris Simms -- in their own end zone, at the Texas 2 and at midfield -- to seal their second straight victory in the 101-year, 96-game rivalry...

October 12, 2002
Just as the Red River shootout started to slip away from the Oklahoma Sooners, Quentin Griffin ran to the rescue - and all over the Texas Longhorns.
Griffin scooped up a loose ball and scored the go-ahead touchdown, ran 17 yards for the game-clinching score with 3:02 left and finished with a career-high 248 yards to carry the No. 2 Sooners past the No. 3 Longhorns 35-24.
"Quentin had an incredible day. I think he really likes to play Texas," Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops said, referring to Griffin's six-TD day against the Longhorns in 2000...

October 11, 2003
The Oklahoma Sooners hung half a hundred again. Doing it against their arch rivals made this one even better. Jason White threw four touchdown passes, Mark Clayton had a school-record 190 yards receiving and the defense snagged six turnovers as the No. 1 Sooners routed No. 11 Texas 65-13.
Oklahoma set series records for points and most lopsided victory -- for the second time in four years. It was a triumphant way for the Sooners to claim their first four-game winning streak over the Longhorns since...

October 9, 2004The Oklahoma Sooners found a new way to devastate the Texas Longhorns. Slowly. Painfully. And with a freshman plucked from East Texas doing most of the damage.
In just his fifth college game, Adrian Peterson ran for 225 yards and made many big plays when No. 2 Oklahoma needed it most, helping the Sooners grind out a 12-0 victory over No. 5 Texas and stretch their winning streak in the storied rivalry to five straight.
The Longhorns were in it until the end, but still suffered some stinging embarrassment -- getting shut out for the first time since November 1980, a run of 281 games that was the longest in the country...
