Restrep Selected To Coach At NCAA YES Clinic

October 31, 2005 | Volleyball

NORMAN, Okla. Oklahoma head volleyball coach Santiago Restrepo has been selected to serve as an advisor for the NCAA Youth Education through Sports (YES) Clinics.  Restrepo, one of eight Division I coaches chosen, will appear at the clinic Saturday, Dec. 17 in San Antonio, Texas.

“I'm honored to be one of the coaches selected to this clinic,” Restrepo said.  “It is a privilege to be able to serve the volleyball community and have the opportunity to give back.”

The YES clinic is designed to teach boys and girls the “fun” in fundamentals of sports and life.  A targeted recruitment effort has been established to involve ethnic minority populations in addition to those youth who are underserved in the area of sports participation.  This year, the clinic will benefit the youth of San Antonio and will run in conjunction with the 2005 NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Championships.

In addition to the coaches participation in the clinic, student-athletes will also serve as clinicians in the instructional and demonstration sessions.  Juniors Rachel Jackson (setter) and Eliane Santos (middle blocker) will represent Oklahoma and join Restrepo at the YES clinic.
