NORMAN, Okla. -- The OU football team got off to an early start Saturday morning in the first installment of two-a-days in Norman. The Sooners opened practice at 8:45 a.m. for the first morning session of the preseason and were greeted with partly cloudy skies and temperatures in the 70s.
Oklahoma returns to the Rugby Fields today at 5:15 p.m.
The team will hold the first of its three preseason scrimmages on Sunday at Gaylord Family - Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. The starting time is tentatively set for 5:30 p.m., although that is subject to slight adjustment.
"I think everything went fine today," said head coach Bob Stoops. "Today was really no different than the past couple of days and overall it was a good practice to lead up to tomorrow.
"On Sunday, during the scrimmage, we want to start seeing some consistency and see which of the younger guys will step up and make plays. More than anything, the coaching staff is looking for guys to create the opportunities to make plays. We want to take a look at everybody and run maybe 80-110 snaps on Sunday and see what happens. Ultimately, the staff will be looking for some continuity and rhythm on both sides of the ball."
Fans should follow news accounts and monitor SoonerSports.com for changes. Due to construction at the stadium site, several guidelines are in place to help fans find appropriate parking, seating and services.
